Sonoran Apothecary creates handmade, desert-inspired CBD products. Our small team is based in Tucson, AZ, in the heart (and heat) of the Sonoran Desert. From the beginning, our goal has been to promote sustainable, holistic wellness by crafting and supplying CBD products to our local community and beyond. Read on to learn more about our philosophy and products.

Sonoran Apothecary sets itself apart by combining herbs, essential oils, and tea to enhance the benefits of CBD. Drawing on the ecology and landscape of the Sonoran Desert, we concoct unique CBD recipes that reflect the nourishing scents and flavors of the Southwest.

Did you know that Tucson occupies the ancestral homelands of the Tohono O'Odham people? There is no way to separate the plants we use in our products from the people who live in this region.

Sonoran Apothecary is committed to promoting mental and physical health for everyone, and in an industry that has historically exploited and victimized people of color, this commitment means that we must take an active role in social justice. While many CBD and cannabis companies may choose to remain neutral when it comes to issues of race, valuing profit over moral responsibility, we feel it is necessary to acknowledge the inequalities inherent in our industry and beyond.

To that end, we will continue educating ourselves about the context of our work, looking for ways to incorporate anti-racist, anti-misogynist, anti-colonial practices into our everyday functions. Our goal for 2020-2021 is to donate to social justice organizations and causes, to support businesses owned by BIPOC, to represent diverse bodies in our marketing efforts, and to amplify BIPOC and underrepresented voices as often as possible.

Still, the intersection between business and social justice remains uneasy and complicated. We must continually reassess our own practices and biases, knowing that this work is never finished. To that end, we welcome feedback about how we can improve. Send us your ideas, resources, etc. and we will do our best to incorporate and share them. Please also visit our "Learn" section to see more about how we can collectively donate, educate, and participate.

In a relatively young industry where the information is frequently shifting and evolving, it is Sonoran Apothecary’s goal to stay informed, to reject overblown and misleading health claims, and to help educate and inform customers about the benefits and limits of CBD. If you have questions about how our products are made, the ingredients we use, or whether CBD is right for you, just get in touch!

We seek to create affordable products that have a lasting, long-term, positive effect on the people who use them—and the ecosystem we live in. Sonoran Apothecary relies on “green” production processes whenever possible, and we hope you will enjoy our minimal, recyclable packaging.

In 2018, Zoe Rose Lambert began making hemp-derived CBD topicals to help her father manage his severe arthritis pain. After discovering CBD’s effectiveness in managing pain, and after realizing that other people were eager to try it out, Zoe started making small batches of salves, lotion-bars, and oils to share with friends and family. With demand growing for her Southwest-inspired creations, Zoe launched Sonoran Apothecary, providing handmade products to the Tucson community and beyond.

Owner and founder, Zoe has been working in the health and wellness industry for the past decade, gaining hands-on experience working with natural food, herbs, Chinese tea, cannabis, and CBD. Zoe is a 200-hour certified yoga teacher, offering workshops and yoga classes in Tucson and online. She is currently pursuing her BFA in Film & Television at the University of Arizona.
